Born in 1901 in New Orleans, he received his first instrument at just 7. He worked with Joe Oliver when he got older, and playing in various clubs made him famous in the world of jazz.

Louis's wife Lil Hardin told Louis to leave Joe's band and to go off on his own, so he began to make his own works. His many great solo works made him very famous, and he made many more solo hits in the world of jazz.
