Fact: Bulbasaur in French is a combination of the words "‘bulbe" and "bizarre," which in direct translation to English, means "odd bulb." The Japanese translation is exactly the same but its pronunciation is more similar with the more common European name of Bulbasaur. Other languages translate Bulbasaur to English to "magical frog seed" (Mandarin) and "strange seed" (Hong Kong Cantonese).
