The city of Vicksburg was on a bluff above the Mississippi, so it should have been easy to defend. But, after being bombarded by shells and cannon balls from May to July 1863, it fell.

Attack 2 : Like eating rubber?
The siege lasted for six weeks, and the people of Vicksburg ran out of food not after long, but they still had horses and mules around... After eating those, they made bread that tasted like "Indian rubber" out of corn and dried peas!
