During the First World War he commanded the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) on the Western Front from late 1915 until the end of the war.

Haig managed to command the army to many victories on the war front against western German fronts

Comments : Haig served in the War Office and helped create the Territorial Force in 1908. In 1917, he became a Field Marshal while leading the British Army in the final Hundred Days Offensive. This campaign, along with unrest and revolts in Germany, helped bring about the armistice on 11 November 1918.
