Born 1540, and died 1496. He died when he was 56 years old and he died of illness. He is most famous for ending the spanish dominance over the sea, making england a global empire. The Spanish Armada arrived in 1588 with an force of 128 ships. Drake returned to the Caribbean in 1595. Francis Drake also later got sick and died of dysentery in Puerto Rico. Drake accomplished more than any English explorer to that day, effectively making the English dominant at sea.
