Giovanni Caboto was an Italian sailor who sailed for Britain. It was unknown if he interacted with Indigenous people. He landed in Newfoundland in 1497 and claimed the land for Britain.

Caboto reported that the seas were so full of fish, you could scoop fish by the bucketful. Caboto was the first explorer to touch land in Canada.
