The manhattan project is completed, and Japan is warned that if they do not surrender then the US will come at them with power the world has never before witnessed. On August 6, 1945 the world witnessed the power that the US now had when Hiroshima was nuked, and again on August 9th when Nagasaki was nuked. These are still the only times that a Nuke has been used outside of testing in human history.
