Rip tide is the name of a sword that Percy Jackson uses its a weapon that has been past down to him by his father, the god of the sea poseidon. Riptide looks like a pen but it is a sword.

Attack 2 : H2O Control
The setting of the story takes place over the sea of monsters which to humans, is the Bermuda triangle. The reason why Percy Anabeth and Tyson go there is because they need to find there friend grover and get the fleece that can restore anything.
