The Squaliformes are an order of sharks that includes about 126 species in seven families. Members of the order have two dorsal fins, which usually possess spines, they usually have a sharp head.

Squaliformes are primarily found in marine environments; however, some species, such as the piked dogfish, can occasionally operate in estuarine waters. The Greenland shark has also been captured in rivers far from the sea.
